Melissa Agnes Tychonievich REMEMBRANCER ON VIEW UNTIL APRIL 25  BY APPOINTMENT ONLY University of Miami Gallery  2750 NW 3rd Avenue, Suite 4 Miami, FL 33127   Remembrancer is a Master of Fine Arts Exhibition by Melissa Agnes Tychonievich, featuring a collection of full color, life-sized figurative oil paintings and monochromatic lithographic prints. Using the visual symbolism of their own interpersonal relationships, Tychonievich explores pictorial connections between representational images and non-objective techniques in contemporary painting. She identifies her work as existing between the conceptual binaries of the Representational and the Concrete, each individual painting articulating its own personalized place on this spectrum. As a queer, non-binary person, Tychonievich uses the societal gender binary of Male and Female as a personal allegory in their work, investigating implicit feminist themes of sexuality, identity, and gender expression. ABOUT THE ARTIST Melissa Agnes Tychonievich is a queer contemporary figure painter originally from St. Louis, Missouri. Tychonievich identifies as non-binary in their gender expression, preferring to use both “she/her” and “they/them” pronouns. After completing their Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting and Art History at the Kansas City Art Institute in 2017, they moved to Miami, Florida in 2018 to pursue their Masters of Fine Arts in Painting. Her work is rooted in the foundational practice of recording perceptual information from observation, specifically figurative drawing and painting from life. Her work has been featured nationally, including at the H and R Bloch Artspace in Kansas City, Missouri; the Old Courthouse Arts Center in Woodstock, Illinois; and locally at the University of Miami Art Gallery in Wynwood. The University of Miami Gallery is open on a limited basis to University of Miami faculty & students. The gallery will remain closed to the general public for the time being. Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami, The only two shows under one roof during Miami Art Week

Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami celebrated a global showcase in contemporary art during Miami Art Week inside Mana Wynwood convention center, December 4—8, reporting record sales and more than 6,000 guests attending the Opening Night Preview Party. Both shows saw an increase of 5% in attendance over the five days.

To mark commencement of the five-day global kaleidoscope in contemporary art, culture and entertainment, the annual Opening Night Preview Party took place on Wednesday, December 4th, sponsored in association with Jadot and Bulleit Bourbon. Guests experienced the Bulleit 3D Printed Frontier – a jaw dropping 3D printed bar designed by the award-winning architecture and inspired by the iconic Bulleit Bourbon label and award-winning whiskey. Guests lined-up for hours for their own 3D printed cocktails and the debut of the new Bulleit Art in a Bottle Collection, with live demonstrations by contemporary artist Elidea, together with urban artist Jason Skeldon. Thousands of the world’s most affluent art dealers, collectors, artists, gallery owners, curators and art enthusiasts attended the opening night extravaganza for Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami to enjoy Louis Jadot Wines and hors d'oeuvres, as well as the hottest sounds, presented this year by San Francisco's DJ Jazzy T.

When attendees weren't meeting the exhibiting artists and gallery owners, they were watching Artblend artist Anna Thurber take a chainsaw to a block of frozen flowers to create her next masterpiece and street artist and muralist Cloe Hakakian use a Lamborghini Aventador-S as her canvas outside the main entrance, among other live demonstrations.

Spectrum Miami, presented for its 9th year, featured the works of more than 200 exhibiting galleries and artists from the Florida region, the U.S. and around the globe, informed by the 2019 curatorial theme [IGNITE]. Known for its urban and upscale works of art, the five-day show attracted more than 40,000 visitors and high-net-worth collectors who interact with the specially curated programming, while celebrating the fine art experience with music, entertainment and other special events. This year’s Spectrum Miami included Art Labs, the Spotlight Program, Discoveries Collection, live art demonstrations and the new [LOCAL TALENT] Program, showcasing a curated group of emerging and unrepresented artists who created a special exhibition at the show, selected from a collaboration among local art institutions and galleries. This year’s Art Labs included SCIENCE AND HUMANISM presented by artist Yang Yibin; FLOWER KISSES presented by artist Grace Chadwick and IGNITING THE MATADOR: A LAMBORGHINI INSTALLATION presented by street artist Cloe Hakakian. This year’s Spotlight Program was a focused look at a specially curated group of recipients: Alfano Sculpture, ArtnWordz, Elidea Art, Henrie Collection, Jason Perez Art, and Todd Monk Art.

The Spectrum Miami Discoveries Collection presented a selection of unique discoveries from this year’s exhibitors, including Chat Art Studio, Malcolm Smith, Hamilton Artistry, Miri Marchese, Tom Lohner, and Coco GenZ. The Discoveries Collection at Spectrum Miami showcased a broad range of artist’s work priced at $3,000 or less. The inaugural [LOCAL TALENT] Program represented some of the exceptional artistic talent residing in Miami-Dade College and attending the sought-after Kendall Campus Art Program. [LOCAL TALENT] is intended to amplify and support the best of Miami’s emerging visual arts community.

Artblend artist mosaic master Doug Powell placed the first piece of the weekend, "Route 66," for $16,000, and by the end of the weekend, Michaela Kuechenhoff and Grant Rosen of Artnwordz had placed over 39 pieces, including "Winging It" for $5,800 and "Cool Hand Luke" for $4,500.

Red Dot Miami featured more than 60 galleries representing over 500 leading contemporary artists from primary and secondary markets throughout the world. Artist Skip Hartzell: Dog's Best Friend

For Skip Hartzell, known locally as “the dog artist,” inspiration comes in the form of a morning walk — accompanied by a furry friend. The act of making art is one of benevolence for Hartzell, and also his dog art sells. He is a longtime supporter of no-kill animal rescues and donates proceeds from the sale of his artworks to animal-rescue, no kill shelters.

“Dogs are always in the moment. Although nothing in life has held my attention longer or has been more fascinating to me than dogs, my work is about much more than that. It is about form, movement, color and texture. The dogs are a recognizable common denominator that allows me to communicate my joy of living, passions and sentiments,” explained Skip Hartzell.

The artist creates large paintings and works on paper that capture the essence of “dog”. He is best known for his unique sculptures recognized immediately by their distinct form and style that only Hartzell can produce. His painterly expression captures each dog’s own personality with beautiful textures, line and brush strokes using mixed media to bring each dog to life.

Whether he’s painting or sculpting, Hartzell’s dogs have a wonderful quality of friendliness about them, and it’s hard to keep yourself from reaching out to touch. And that’s perfectly okay with Hartzell. He’s never been one to place a rope around his artwork.

“The texture is so important because the tactile experience of sculpture is so primal for me,” he says. “You grab with your hands and just start to mush things together and get your fingers on the materials, and there is just such a richness to the feel.” He says whenever he’s doing a show, he is quick to hand his sculptures to the patrons so they can enjoy the feeling, too. And whether it’s paint on canvas or sculpture, the texture is one of the most captivating and inviting parts of experiencing his artwork. Hartzell may not set out to mimic the look of someone’s beloved pet, but he says his sculptures and paintings often evoke a fond memory of a furry family member.

The NuTec device is made up of tiny spots – each with different textures and physio-chemical properties that bind molecules, proteins and cells. The resulting NuTec profile is specific to each person at that moment in time.

Dr. Piloto stands at the vanguard of scientific research, actualizing the possibilities of radically improving human life through the use of deep science and artificial intelligence.

His art seeks to remind us of the interconnectedness of all things, our place in the universe, and the power of unleashing humanity's full potential to create a more hopeful future.

The scanned NuTec slide is then used as the basis for the artwork. Textured, colored NuTec spots constitute the visual vocabulary of Dr. Piloto’s artworks.

Delicately, the artists adds texture using paint to create a truly one-of-a-kind work of art. Lastly, he signs each piece with paint embedded with encrypted DNA from his genome to create a deeper personal connection with the collector.

Fabien Castanier Gallery is excited to announce their latest limited edition print sale event, featuring a giclée by artist, Seth. The print, "Sèso", is released in conjunction with Seth's exhibition in the gallery's Miami Wynwood location, currently on view. 10% of the proceeds from the sale of the print will benefit two primary schools at Cité Soleil in Port au Prince, through Seth's nonprofit, Globepainters, which works to promote art education at underprivileged schools across the world.

The print is sized 28 x 19.25 in. (71x49cm) and priced at $190 + free domestic shipping.* It will be signed and numbered on 300g cotton fine art paper, and with a certificate of authenticity. It will be made available for purchase for only 48 hours this coming weekend, Saturday May 18th through Sunday May 19th. This print release will have a total number of editions based on the number of pieces sold during the 48 hour sale, guaranteeing everyone who purchases during the event gets a print. The release will be limited to one print per customer, and the design will not be re-printed.
