Fabien Castanier Gallery presents Tilt "STORY TELLING" Artist's Reception

STORY TELLING
Solo Exhibition by TILT
February 16 - March 3, 2019

Opening Reception with the Artist | Saturday February 16th @ 6:00pm

Fabien Castanier Gallery WYNWOOD
45 NE 26th Street, Miami, FL 33137

EXTENDED HOURS :
In addition to our regular hours the Wynwood gallery will be open Sunday, February 17 and Monday, February 18 from 12:00pm - 6:00pm.
Fabien Castanier Gallery is excited to present a solo exhibition for French artist Tilt, Story Telling, which will coincide with the gallery's participation in the 2019 Art Wynwood art fair over President's Day weekend. The show is held in our Wynwood gallery location from February 16 to March 3.

Recognized internationally as a traditional graffiti artist, Tilt began his practice in his youth on the streets and train cars of Toulouse, France, in the 1980s. Most known for his primitive lettering and "throw-up" bubble style tags, the artist has continued to evolve his practice while exploring the now-historical visual vocabulary of graffiti.

For Story Telling, Tilt presents new work that draws a bridge with the past, incorporating deconstruction, erasure, and raw materials, all with an anti-aesthetic foundation. He continually references the lineage of graffiti art, attempting to evoke memories of this subculture's rebellious and anarchic past. The work emphasizes the genre's transience while simultaneously calling upon the layered and complex traditions solidified through years of artists' practice in both the gallery and the urban sphere.

Tilt constructs a fragmented narrative in his paintings for Story Telling, revealing a dialogue between the signs and symbols of graffiti and the spaces and walls on which they reside. His work is almost archeological in nature, recalling lost moments in time by tracing a story through gestures. Layers of vibrant paint, sprayed and dripped, suggest hidden worlds and the mythos of destruction etched in the walls of the street.

South Florida "Dog Artist" Skip Hartzell Creates Work Inspired By Man's Best Friend

South Florida artist Skip Hartzell‘s passion and love of dogs in unlimited configurations are joined in his paintings, works on paper and four-legged sculptures. His inspiration comes in the form of a morning walk, accompanied by a furry friend. The artwork he creates of man’s best friend are figments of his artistic imagination and creative vision.

'Swimmer #2', Flashe on Canvas, 72 x 72 Inches

Hartzell creates directly from his emotions and instincts, his work is inspired by dogs of all shapes, sizes and varieties. The artist creates large paintings and works on paper that capture the essence of “dog”. He is best known for his unique sculptures recognized immediately by their distinct form and style that only Hartzell can produce.

'Partners', Resin and Graphite, 25 x 37 x 21 Inches

But don’t be fooled by the cuteness of his work — just like real dogs, Skip’s dogs draw you in. All of the work is rich with intricacies of color and technique. His painterly expression captures each dog’s own personality with beautiful textures, line and brush strokes using mixed media to bring each dog to life.

'Dog on Red Dirt' (2017), Flashe and Pastel on Canvas, 64 x 64 Inches

Hartzell is a longtime supporter of no-kill animal rescues and donates proceeds from the sale of his artworks to animal-rescue, no kill shelters. For sales, commissions, general inquiries, or future show information, email skipperhartzell@yahoo.com and visit www.skiphartzell.com
