The Riverwalk Connection

Submission dates: Monday, August 2 through Friday, October 2, 2026

Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale invites local artists to submit their original artwork depicting Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk and/or downtown and how the Riverwalk serves as a central connector in our community, geographically, socially, culturally or economically. Potential points of view include:

• “Riverwalk in Motion” (boats, people, festivals, wildlife)
• “Moments on the Riverwalk” (human experiences—events, quiet scenes, movement)
• “Riverwalk: Then, Now & Next” (past / present / future interpretations)

Artists are invited to submit two and three-dimensional original artwork of all mediums, including but not limited to watercolor, oil, sculpture, photography, charcoal, mixed media, drawing and gouache.

Following the submission deadline, artwork will be judged by a local juried panel, with the winning piece being featured on the cover of a future issue of Go Riverwalk Magazine.  Artists must be available to be photographed and interviewed for the story.

SaveArtSpace is proud to present Home Is Where I Make It, a public art exhibition on billboard ad space in New York, NY, opening July 24, 2026, curated by The Unapologetic Street Series & Amy Quichiz.

Home Is Where I Make It explores the various experiences of making homes in places unknown and how those places become core parts of us. So many of us whether immigrants ourselves or children of immigrants have a talent for building new rituals and making anywhere a home. The individual and collective experience of migration is not a monolith, but the overlapping beauties we find along the way are affirming that we share more in common than not when we make homes in new countries. New York City is a powerful example of how many people build coalitions and communities when we seek refuge and solidarity in one another.

Artists of all ages and talents are invited to submit their artwork between April 27 and June 8, 2026 in order to be considered for the exhibition. This is an opportunity to have your work placed on billboard ad space in New York, NY. APPLY HERE.

The application fee is $35 for 1-3 images; each additional image carries a $10 fee. Fees support the production of the exhibition, including the purchase of billboard ad space. All fees paid to SaveArtSpace are 100% tax deductible donations. 

Selected artists will be announced after June 22, 2026. Public art will be on view starting July 24, 2026 in New York, NY, and will be on view for at least one month.

Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynwood announces the sixth edition of Summer Open, a program dedicated to supporting Miami-based artists by providing free communal workspace to support their practices.

For twelve weeks, eight selected artists will have access to Bakehouse's facilities and an opportunity to foster relationships and engage with the organization's community of artists. The program will also offer opportunities for creative and professional development through studio visits, networking events, internal artist programming, and more.

✧ Artists and creatives working in any medium and based in Miami-Dade County are eligible to apply.

✧ There is no application fee and the program is free for those invited to attend.

Each artist will take over an entire hospital room-walls, floors, ceilings, and original furniture -and transform it into a site-specific art installation, inspired by one of the exhibition’s Emotional Departments, exploring emotions such as joy, love, fear, anger, hope, and resilience.

No previous experience creating full-room installations is required.

What matters is a strong idea and the technical ability to bring your wildest imagination to life.

Selected artists receive a production budget and an artist fee per room.

Lost & Found is a dynamic celebration of the fleeting, the forgotten, and the rediscovered, showcasing the vibrant creativity of teens from diverse backgrounds. In this annual exhibition, we explore the delicate balance between what slips away and what reappears, celebrating the beauty in both loss and discovery. Each piece invites viewers into a world where hidden treasures of imagination, personal memories, and whimsical moments come to life through the eyes of young artists. The works on display in Lost & Found offer a glimpse into the unique ways teens interpret the process of finding and losing. The exhibition captures the magic of youth in transition, where moments of clarity often emerge unexpectedly amid the chaos of growing up. Whether through photography, sculpture, painting, or digital media—teens reveal their stories of what has been lost and what has returned, often in forms they could never have anticipated. Through moments of wonder, whimsy, and insight, these works highlight the power of art to bring what is forgotten back into focus, offering a visual representation of how we navigate our personal histories, dreams, and desires. Lost & Found is a testament to the resilience of creativity, and a reminder that sometimes, the most profound discoveries are made when we least expect them.

SUBMISSION FORM

Submission guidelines:   The online submission period is open through 12 am on Friday, February 6. Drop-off time for physical pieces of art is February 13 – March 1 at NSU Art Museum (One East Las Olas Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, 33301) Applicants must be aged 13 to 19 years and must be attending high school in Broward County All mediums are encouraged, including visual art, dance, music, writing, and performance. There is a maximum of 3 submissions per artist, and all artwork must be recent work made within the student’s high school term. All submissions must be submitted through the online form or by emailing Education1@nova.edu.

Happy is not happy. Torn from her natural habitat and herd in Thailand as a baby, Happy has spent nearly 50 years in captivity at the Bronx Zoo. Like humans, elephants are deeply social animals—they don't thrive in isolation. Alone, they suffer from loneliness, stress, and depression. We want to give Happy the life she deserves: freedom, companionship, and care in an elephant sanctuary where she can finally be with others of her kind. The only parameter is that the art features an elephant(s). It can also have people or other animals in it.  We invite artists of all ages, styles, and talents to submit their artwork between September 22 and October 20, 2025 in order to be considered for the exhibition. The Contemporary Art Modern Project (CAMP Gallery) is beyond pleased to officially announce their open call for this year’s fiber show!

CAMP Gallery invites fiber artists to submit proposals for the 7th edition of their annual exhibition, Women Pulling at The Threads of Social Discourse: Don’t be Absurd, opening October 10, 2025. The exhibition will explore absurdism, referencing Franz Kafka, Albert Camus, Simone de Beauvoir, Jose Saramago and/or Samuel Beckett. We ask that artists submit a proposal first, detailing how their piece compliments the chosen text, with an accompanying sketch and/or render.

PROPOSAL PROCESS

Artists are required to be familiar with one (or more) of the texts listed above, and respond directly to their respective subject matter. We have included free links to make the material accessible; all rights retained by respective authors, publishers, and host sites.

We ask that artists submit a proposal first, detailing how their piece compliments the chosen text, with an accompanying sketch and/or render. Please do not make any pieces before notice of acceptance.

Artists are required to explore their response through fiber/textiles, and associated techniques. Artists may use threads, weaving, tapestry, embroidery, tufting, etc. Works can be abstract, figurative, geometric, etc.

Artists can propose one or more pieces ranging in size from 12 inches diameter, 18 inches diameter, 24 inches diameter, 30 inches diameter. We will also accept 2 works 40 inches diameter. All works will be pinned in the gallery, so we ask that proposals exclude frames; embroidery hoops, however, are acceptable. 

 

Please note that this is a Call for Fiber Art; proposals must include practices related to fiber art, whether or not artists’ practices center the medium.

SaveArtSpace x THE HERE AND THERE COLLECTIVE is pleased to announce an open call focused on artists from the Asian Diaspora. All artists and creatives are invited to submit new or previously shown works for this iteration of SaveArtSpace. The following call is organized by Rosa Chang with the support of The Here and There Collective.  Reinventing Asia Futurism, invites artists to submit works that explore what an “Asian” aesthetic is through a recontextualization, questioning, and/ or denouncement of such associations. Artists are encouraged to address how Asian identities can shape and be shaped by culturally and technologically advanced futures, and how these identities evolve within the larger global context. Historically, concepts such as techno-Orientalism have fed into stereotyped or exoticized depictions, portraying Asian countries as technologically advanced yet culturally alien. This open call aims to subvert these outdated notions and highlight the complex realities of Asian futurity. As contemporary global dynamics shift, the interconnectedness of Asian communities in shaping their futures becomes more intricate and multifaceted, inviting a deeper exploration of historical, cultural, and technological contributions. Any artist who self-identifies as part of the Asian Diaspora is welcome to apply. Artists of all ages and talents are invited to submit their artwork between June 25 and August 12, 2024. Generations of Multitude is looking to highlight artwork that demonstrates the beauty and struggles of holding many contrasting priorities close to you and the challenge of finding your whole in a world that asks for concise oneness and the quick read. 

SaveArtSpace is prioritizing artists who are first and second-generation immigrants but also others who deal in the diaspora of dual or multi-faceted cultural identities.

They are welcoming all works inherently about or influenced by an artist’s split identity and the idea of fitting into multiple worlds, cultures, or ideologies.

Artists of all ages and talents are invited to submit their artwork between April 18 and June 10, 2024. This is an opportunity to have your work placed on billboard ad space in Metro Detroit, Michigan.

MOCA North Miami Announces Open Call for Art on the Plaza 2024

Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) Announces Open Call for Art on the Plaza 2024 Artist Submissions — Applications open through December 29, 2023 — North Miami, FL – November 14, 2023 – The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) is pleased to announce an open call for South Florida-based artists to submit their work for the 2024 Art on the Plaza series. The program invites artists to activate MOCA's Plaza with temporary public installations of site-specific art works, introducing and connecting the community with the breadth of the city's unique and inspiring artistic hub. Inaugurated in 2021 with a series of temporary public art installations on MOCA North Miami's front plaza, the series provides an opportunity for local artists to engage with the Museum and its community, employing the physical outdoor space as a platform to elevate their works. The 2023 series featured South Florida artists including Edison Peñafiel, LIZN'BOW (Liz Ferrer and Bow Ty), Sterling Rook, and will close with Chris Friday, whose work, Narcissist, goes on view November 29.  Throughout the years, MOCA has been championing the work of local artists while providing accessible opportunities for the community to participate and engage with the arts via free and public programming. This series is a continuation of that mission, offering an up-close, hands-on experience for local community members of all ages and backgrounds to witness the city's evolving arts ecosystem.  Artists will submit a proposal for temporary public art installations spanning three to four months in duration. These submissions will be reviewed by a MOCA-appointed selection committee and selections will be announced on January 27, 2024.  This year, three artists will be selected for installations to remain on view for four months. Each selected artist will be supported by MOCA through the fabrication, installation, and programming for  their project.  Across the plaza, artworks could incorporate the building's façade, architecture, the central fountain and include free-standing elements or light-based projections. Alongside the installations, the museum will host relevant programming to coincide with each artists' occupation of the space throughout the year. The establishment of the permanent collection coincided with the institution's move into their current building designed by Charles Gwathmey of GSNY in 1996.  Under the direction of Executive Director Chana Sheldon and a newly installed Board of Trustees, MOCA showcased My Name is Maryan curated by Alison Gingeras during Miami Art Week in 2021, which will travel to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art in late 2022. An accompanying exhibition catalog highlighting key works will be published, along with other archival imagery and critical essays. The museum also premiered AFRICOBRA: Messages to the People during Art Basel Miami Beach in 2018. AFRICOBRA: Nation Time, the next chapter of the exhibition, was selected as an official Collateral Event of Biennale Arte 2019 in Venice, Italy.
