SaveArtSpace x THE HERE AND THERE COLLECTIVE is pleased to announce an open call focused on artists from the Asian Diaspora. All artists and creatives are invited to submit new or previously shown works for this iteration of SaveArtSpace. The following call is organized by Rosa Chang with the support of The Here and There Collective.  Reinventing Asia Futurism, invites artists to submit works that explore what an “Asian” aesthetic is through a recontextualization, questioning, and/ or denouncement of such associations. Artists are encouraged to address how Asian identities can shape and be shaped by culturally and technologically advanced futures, and how these identities evolve within the larger global context. Historically, concepts such as techno-Orientalism have fed into stereotyped or exoticized depictions, portraying Asian countries as technologically advanced yet culturally alien. This open call aims to subvert these outdated notions and highlight the complex realities of Asian futurity. As contemporary global dynamics shift, the interconnectedness of Asian communities in shaping their futures becomes more intricate and multifaceted, inviting a deeper exploration of historical, cultural, and technological contributions. Any artist who self-identifies as part of the Asian Diaspora is welcome to apply. Artists of all ages and talents are invited to submit their artwork between June 25 and August 12, 2024. This is an opportunity to have your work placed on ad space in New York City.

SaveArtSpace: 'Cultural Diversity' Public Art & Gallery Exhibition

Through public art and gallery exhibition, SaveArtSpace and X Gallery will celebrate the diversity in Harlem that makes it such a unique evolving community.

Over time the village of Harlem has become the most multicultural community in New York City and is must see for tourists visiting from around the world. As Harlem continues to change culturally, landmarks and statues have a strong presence to remind all visitors of the history of Harlem. Superfine! NYC: The Movie (+ The E-Fair Lives!)

"Superfine! is a new kind of art fair: welcoming and affordable." - The Clyde Fitch Report Fall in love all over again with Superfine! NYC. Art to fall in love with. That's what thousands of New Yorkers found this past week at the second annual edition of Superfine! NYC in the Meatpacking District. 78 booths full of artists + art professionals put forth their best work and their tireless energy for four days and five nights at New York's favorite emerging art fair. Sales were brisk across the board with notable New Yorkers like Lin-Manuel Miranda (writer of Hamilton) taking home works by the hundreds of artists that made up Superfine! NYC. New works from Jersey City-based Deep Space Gallery's RU8ICON1 and Pittsburgh-based Box Heart Gallery's Sherry Rusinack and Nicole Gronvold Roller all found New York homes; as did those of solo artists including Wade Asa (NC), Richard Ahnert (Toronto), Monica Delgado (NYC), Noel Kassowitz (Miami / Washington DC), Shamona Stokes (Jersey City), and many, many more. While the art on the walls was certainly the focus, visitors also sipped SŌTŌ sake + sake-tails, delved into dim sum courtesy of Chinatown trailblazer Nom Wah Tea Parlor, and munched bites from Ancolie's "healthy French" in-fair epicurean cantine and Snowdays' one-night snow cream pop-up. Performance art also lit up the floor with Heidi Latsky Dance, Dream Caverns, and a Girls' Night Out performance by Sylva Dean and Me. Fabien Castanier Gallery is excited to participate in the first New York edition of the Urban Art Fair, taking place June 29 – July 3, 2017. The gallery will exhibit work from Speedy Graphito (FR), Andrew Schoultz (US), and Mark Jenkins (US), Zes (US), JonOne (US/FR), and RERO (FR). Started in Paris in 2016, the Urban Art Fair is an international showcase of the world's leading urban and contemporary art, featuring new work from today's image-makers as well as historic pieces from the genre's inception. Keep Your Eyes On Global Art Sensation Vito Bonanno

New England and New York-based artist Vito Bonanno’s mix of hyper-focused Autism inspired work is a blend of street art, pop culture and dreams from his unfiltered world.

Bonanno is an internationally recognized artist who taps into the daily emotional and social challenges of living with autism, placing his innermost feelings onto canvas. The work is image and concept driven and imbedded in his personal philosophy. His art contains the essence of his life, feelings, thoughts and dreams, coupled around objects or topics that “get stuck in his head”, including traffic lights, grids, ceiling fans, graffiti and pop culture.

His work is collected by art world luminaries such as Joey Arias, Robert Galinsky, Supermodel Monica Watkins, and the owner of Azucar Ice Cream Company in Miami, Suzy Batlle, to name a few.

Bonanno began his artist representation with veteran NYC Art Dealer and co-owner of New York City based Umbrella Arts Gallery, Margaret Bodell. Bodell helped define and expand the outsider movement during the 90’s in her East Village gallery by including artists with autism alongside contemporary artists, bringing to light the unique visual arts gift that only the autistic can tap into such as Michael Madore, Jessica Park and Ricky Hagedorn.

Bodell encouraged Bonanno to collaborate with “mainstream” artist’s one-on-one-in order to help him round out his artistic voice and philosophy, as well as to encourage him to continue to explore additional artistic mediums. These collaborations have resulted in a discovery of the wide range of artistic styles that Bonanno is capable of and have furthered his independent and unedited artistic voice. Bodell believes Bonanno has a rare form of extreme talent.
