Apply to the Teen Art Council (TAC) at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale!

New applications are now open for consideration to all rising Freshman through Junior grade level students entering the 2026 – 2027 school year. If you are interested in community engagement and supporting the arts, we encourage you to apply. Previous applicants are encouraged to reapply!

The Teen Art Council (TAC) at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale embraces teens and empowers peers within the museum space by providing programming and support that enhance leadership skills, critical thinking, and developmental milestones for an emerging professional. By fostering a designated, incubated safe space for teens’ perspectives to convene, NSU Art Museum initiates lifelong relationships with the teen demographic.

This program allows teens to have the opportunity to collaborate with peers to plan events, investigate exhibitions, and discover the inner workings of the museum. Our mission is to create spaces and programs for teen representation and bridge the gap between teenagers and NSU Art Museum.

NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale presents Rob Pruitt's Flea Market

 

FREE ADMISSION NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale brings Rob Pruitt’s Flea Market back to Fort Lauderdale for its encore on Sunday, April 26. The internationally renowned contemporary artist has been staging his nomadic flea markets around the world since 1999, in locations from New York to London’s Tate Gallery and at NSU Art Museum in 2021. Pruitt is inviting local artists to sell their art and wares during the one-day happening, which will be held at NSU Art Museum (One East Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL). Taking the form of a traditional open-air bazaar, Rob Pruitt’s Flea Market is an opportunity to meet artists and take home an original artwork in a relaxed atmosphere. By highlighting bartering and haggling as both economic and performative, and featuring a diverse array of goods from artwork to housewares, Pruitt’s Flea Market blurs the line between art and commerce.

Edouard Duval-Carrié has been announced as a participating artist in the 61st International Art Exhibition of Venice Biennale, In Minor Keys, opening May 9, 2026, in Venice. Curated by Koyo Kouoh, the exhibition brings together 111 artists from around the world whose practices explore memory, history and global cultural dialogue.

Duval-Carrié, whose landmark installation “The Indigo Room” is part of NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale’s permanent collection and lobby experience, continues to shape international conversations around identity, diaspora and historical narrative.

NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale presents Creativity Exploration: Sweet Sculptures

 

Saturday, February 14th from 12:00 – 1:30pm NSU Art Museum presents Creativity Exploration: Sweet Sculptures. Inspired by Naomi Peterson’s sculptures of cake, bon bons, and confections, create your own sculptures to add some sweetness to your life. RSVP HERE.

Creativity Exploration adult workshops promote the benefits of material exploration and the mind-to-body experience. Studies have shown that 45 minutes of creative activity a day reduces stress and offers mental clarity and relaxation. In addition to producing a sense of well-being, sessions expand participants’ perceptions of forms while increasing brain connectivity through visual and cognitive stimulation. The workshop is led by educator Lark Keeler, a specialist in mindfulness education.

Calling all Broward Teen Artists! Want to see your artwork displayed in an upcoming exhibition at NSU Art Museum? Submissions are now open for the third annual Teen Art Exhibition at NSU Art Museum, Lost & Found. Submit your artwork through our digital application by February 6th to have your work considered for exhibition and for a chance to win prizes! Lost & Found is a dynamic celebration of the fleeting, the forgotten, and the rediscovered, showcasing the vibrant creativity of teens from diverse backgrounds. In this annual exhibition, we explore the delicate balance between what slips away and what reappears, celebrating the beauty in both loss and discovery. Each piece invites viewers into a world where hidden treasures of imagination, personal memories, and whimsical moments come to life through the eyes of young artists. The works on display in Lost & Found offer a glimpse into the unique ways teens interpret the process of finding and losing. The exhibition captures the magic of youth in transition, where moments of clarity often emerge unexpectedly amid the chaos of growing up. Whether through photography, sculpture, painting, or digital media—teens reveal their stories of what has been lost and what has returned, often in forms they could never have anticipated. Through moments of wonder, whimsy, and insight, these works highlight the power of art to bring what is forgotten back into focus, offering a visual representation of how we navigate our personal histories, dreams, and desires. Lost & Found is a testament to the resilience of creativity, and a reminder that sometimes, the most profound discoveries are made when we least expect them.

SUBMISSION FORM

Submission guidelines:   The online submission period is open through 12 am on Friday, February 6. Drop-off time for physical pieces of art is February 13 – March 1 at NSU Art Museum (One East Las Olas Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, 33301) Applicants must be aged 13 to 19 years and must be attending high school in Broward County All mediums are encouraged, including visual art, dance, music, writing, and performance. There is a maximum of 3 submissions per artist, and all artwork must be recent work made within the student’s high school term. All submissions must be submitted through the online form or by emailing Education1@nova.edu.
