Internationally Collected Visual Artist & Filmmaker Cheryl Maeder's New Video Installation 'Simulacra'

Internationally collected visual artist and filmmaker Cheryl Maeder's new video installation 'Simulacra', is a reflection, an imitation, of who we have become in this social media age. "As observer & narrator of the film, I become another one of the subjects in this social commentary on our filtered reality. Special thanks to Artist Mary Tidy-Coyle for our wonderful collaboration & editing, and Brandon Martinez, Datzi Media, who will be creating an Interactive 3D APP for this installation." -Cheryl Maeder.

Vimeo: 'Simulcra'

"Since 2008, I have been exhibiting as an artist during Art Basel Week at art fairs such as Art Miami.  I have noticed that social media has transformed our daily lives. In the first years of exhibiting, when viewers would come to the exhibit, they would ask to take photos with their phones. As the years progressed, fewer people would engage directly with the art. They instead use their phones as their lens to the world. Having observed this evolution, I thought it would be interesting to use my own iphone to film the viewers, so that I become an active participant, and we all become the 'Art'."

Miami-based Artist Jamie Jones' Ladies of the Garden

Jamies Jones

Jamie Jones was born in Hong Kong and raised in South Florida, much of her art is inspired by the natural surroundings. She has been painting over the last 17 years, her sensibility of expression is focused on acrylic paintings, including enamel, and collage, evolving with her unique variety of mixed media on stainless, plexiglass and canvas.

Ladies of the Garden: 'Ivy', Diptych, 24" x 48" and 24" x 24", mixed media reverse painting on plexiglass with acrylic, enamel, various materials such as dried, flowers, feathers or fabric combined with vintage LIFE magazine collage.

Jamie has had numerous exhibitions throughout South Florida, some of which include a show at Wynwood Blank Canvas Gallery during Art Basel Miami beach, a solo exhibition at the Hublot Galerie in the Miami Design District, and The Palace, presented by Luxury Living where Jamie’s work was installed on two of the floors of the magnificent 25,000 sq ft building in the design district.

Ladies of the Garden: 'Sophia', Diptych, 24" x 48" and 24" x 24", mixed media reverse painting on plexiglass with acrylic, enamel, various materials such as dried, flowers, feathers or fabric combined with vintage LIFE magazine collage.

The artist's recent collection is a series of seven known as 'Ladies Of The Garden'. Each one is two-pieces, the body is 24" x 48" and the head is 24" x 24". These pieces are created in a reverse painting on plexiglass style, using acrylic, enamel, various materials such as dried, flowers, feathers or fabric combined with vintage LIFE magazine collage.

Ladies of the Garden: 'Sophia', Diptych, 24" x 48" and 24" x 24", mixed media reverse painting on plexiglass with acrylic, enamel, various materials such as dried, flowers, feathers or fabric combined with vintage LIFE magazine collage.

"I collect hundreds of LIFE magazines, mainly from the 50s, 60s & 70s. I love the content and photography found during these decades and appreciate the risk and significance found in the oversized pages of LIFE magazines. In this series, Ladies Of The Garden, I'm drawn to the perfection of the women found within the LIFE magazine pages, combined with the graininess of the images. The body is created first. I hand tear the images selected for each piece in order to obtain a whimsical feel to their placement when scattering them to create the dress. I then decide color palate and where to layer paint combining the magazine images. The smaller face panel is created secondly, following the lead of the painted torso. The Ladies Of The Garden were inspired by my 'Art In The Garden' exhibition that took place on May 11th and each one was presented on the old Jamaican coconuts that tower the landscape of the Crawford Lodge in Coconut Grove. They are $2800 each and can be purchased through me and are also found on Artsy and Saatchi Art." explained the artist.

NuTec Molecular Portraits: a Profile Representing a Person at Their Molecular Level

Dr. Piloto's artworks are made with the molecular signatures generated by NuTec, a radical technology made possible by advances in nanotechnology, organic chemistry, materials science, molecular medicine, and artificial intelligence expanding 8 years in development.

These dots appear insignificant to the human eye, disguising the paradigm-shifting and life-changing power they contain.

His representation of people as NuTec Molecular Portraits remove the cultural, socio-economic, racial, sexual and religious baggage we automatically associate with images of people.

The Making of Dr. Piloto's Art

Through different mediums, digital compositions, and an amalgamation of disparate elements, Obdulio Piloto creates ingenious works of art rooted in the complex aesthetic structures of molecular portraiture using the groundbreaking technology of NuTec.

The NuTec device is made up of tiny spots – each with different textures and physio-chemical properties that bind molecules, proteins and cells. The resulting NuTec profile is specific to each person at that moment in time.

Dr. Piloto stands at the vanguard of scientific research, actualizing the possibilities of radically improving human life through the use of deep science and artificial intelligence.

His art seeks to remind us of the interconnectedness of all things, our place in the universe, and the power of unleashing humanity's full potential to create a more hopeful future.

The scanned NuTec slide is then used as the basis for the artwork. Textured, colored NuTec spots constitute the visual vocabulary of Dr. Piloto’s artworks.

Delicately, the artists adds texture using paint to create a truly one-of-a-kind work of art. Lastly, he signs each piece with paint embedded with encrypted DNA from his genome to create a deeper personal connection with the collector.

Pigalle Gallery In Miami Presents A Unique Art Exhibition Featuring Artists Gus Fink and Humberto Poidomani

Pigalle Gallery in Miami’s Little River Art District presents an exciting showcase of work in 'The Hall of Wonders', an exhibition of small and large-scale paintings by beloved artists Gus Fink and Humberto Poidomani.

Pigalle Gallery is pleased to announce the inaugural exhibition of visionary New York artist entrepreneur Gus Fink and award- wining Argentinian artist Humberto Poidomani in a one-of-a-kind, highly anticipated art exhibition. 'The Hall of Wonders' opens with a reception on Thursday, May 16th from 6-9pm. The exhibit is curated by DAM, The Directed Art Modern, and runs through June 30, 2019 featuring the latest small and large-scale paintings by Gus Fink and Humberto Poidomani.

Poidomani’s work explores the journey of Dante through inferno followed by Purgatorio guided by the ancient Roman poet Virgil and Paradiso guided by Beatriz whom the artist in this case symbolizes as the Virtue itself. The rendition of this journey is displayed over the city of Florence. “Sometimes when I open my eyes, I see Hell, I quickly take my brushes and paints and I start painting… slowly I start to calm down. At times I see people walking, but they are just bodies floating. We live in a world of transparent lies and if we have lost the paradise, why should we pay the debt for having lost it if perhaps never existed?”, explained artist Humberto Poidomani.

Poidomani has presented his works in numerous museums, galleries and art fairs. His solo shows include a retrospective in the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo of Salta Province, Argentina; E.C.A. Contemporary Spaces of Art in Mendoza, Argentina, and Scope New York.

Artist Gus Fink is recognized from his Art Loop exhibitions, The Oddball Art Hall at Oddity Bar, his collaboration with Spaceboy Clothing GUS FINK: Don’t Let Go. Mickey in Chaos land, Mr. Cuddless or his creepy toy brand Dr. Krinkles. His style is bizarre and unsettling, yet magnetically appealing, sometimes even cute.

“What gives us joy and inspiration can be more than words or money can ever buy. I find joy on taking what is and isn’t important and turning it into something fresh. Something new and inspiring for people to wonder on about and bring new purpose. To me good art is a good idea. It’s bringing out something that didn’t exist before into our reality. This is why I’ll rip pages from an old dictionary or comic book. Or paint on currency. From pictures that were once the most valuable thing of old families to chunks of cardboard from an Amazon box. I let the paint pour out from my soul and onto any canvas that gets tossed in my line of vision,” explained artist Gus Fink.

Pigalle Gallery is a unique space dedicated to Contemporary Art and Design in Miami’s Little River Art District. The gallery is an innovative platform nestled in a new art building and is part of the group “Little River on 75th Art Collective”, presenting solo and group exhibitions, installations, public art projects, conferences, and art publications. Pigalle Gallery is located at 360 Northeast 75th Street – Suite 122, in Miami, Florida 33138. For more information visit www.pigallegallery.com
