Immersive technology and virtual reality allow us to explore new places, travel through time, and step into imagined worlds—whether from the classroom, workplace, or home. While these innovations feel cutting-edge, the desire to create immersive experiences is nothing new. Renaissance artists mastered the art of illusion, designing spaces that engaged the senses and transported viewers into painted worlds. Join Prof. Eric Hupe, Assistant Professor of Art at Lafayette College, for a 30-minute virtual exploration of Giulio Romano's Hall of Giants at Palazzo Te. Through virtual reality, we'll step inside this spectacular 16th-century frescoed chamber, explore its immersive effects, and discuss how modern technology brings Giulio's vision to life.

The Frank Gallery presents a Closing Reception for ‘Ebb & Flow’ on Saturday, February 22nd from 7 – 9pm

Saturday, February 22nd from 7 – 9pm The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery in Pembroke Pines invites you to celebrate the closing of Ebb & Flow! Learn more about “The House Inside My Head” from artists Rhonda Mitrani, Patricia Schnall-Gutierrez, and Marina Font from RPM Projects. Listen as they discuss the inspiration behind the installation, their artistic practices, and the themes of the exhibition in a conversation moderated by The Frank’s Chief Curator Sophie Bonet.

Following the panel discussion there will be a Q & A with the artists.

Step into the gallery and view the installation piece up close, while RPM Projects begin their interactive performance. Record your response to the work on white linens and watch as the artists hand sew your contribution to the collaborative tapestry, becoming part of the installation.

All ages are welcome for this free event. Light refreshments will be provided.

Art Exhibition: BREACH presents 'You Are Completely Special' by Gao Hang

BREACH presents Gao Hang, "You Are Completely Special"

February 20 - March 19, 2022

Gao Hang's recent paintings are inspired by image "definition" and "rebdering" in digital graphics on the internet, especially those from the last 20 years. The rawness of hand coloring/tracing/sculting 3D digital graphics on a 2D screen resonates with "painterly movement" on canvas in terms of the honesty and uncertainty of muscle behavior. The sharp digital boundaries become literal hardedge paintings on front of the artist.
