Divulge: A National Exhibition Featuring the Use of Art for Therapy, Coping, & Mental Health Awareness

The
d'Art Center in Norfolk, VA announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, September 5 - October 3, 2020. Awards for 1st: $500, 2nd: $300, 3rd: $150. Juror: Matthew Bernier. Art has been used as a means of communication, self-expression, group interaction, diagnosis, and conflict resolution throughout history. Through art, both people and artists can look for themes and conflicts that may be affecting their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The establishment of art therapy as a unique and publicly accepted therapeutic approach only took place recently, in the mid-20th century. 'Divulge' will feature artworks that highlight/depict self expression, are created in art therapy, and/or raise awareness of mental health. Original works in all media, traditional or non-traditional, are welcomed and includes both freestanding and wall-mounted two, and three-dimensional works. Open to all artists living in the United States. $35 for up to 3 works. Deadline: August 9, 2020.

Call: (757)625-4211
