Expect the unexpected with these uniquely bizarre and wonderfully gifted artists repurposing the Select Fair's art exhibition space at the Catalina Hotel during Art Basel Dec.4-8, 2o13. Meow Wolf was founded in 2oo8 by a group of young artists in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Over the last 5 years, Meow Wolf has pioneered the form of immersive, narrative, installation art by producing 18 multi-media exhibits, mostly around the Santa Fe area. Meow Wolf consists of 30 active members, 6 of which will be traveling to Miami to work on the group's latest project 'Illume' - a series of light-based sculptures and lanterns that explore Moew Wolf's collective consciousness through photography on transparency.
The group will construct one major light-based sculpture that will hang in the main space of the Catalina lobby, while 5 other smaller sculptures will satellite other areas of the hotel. In addition, 6 tentacle-like wall pieces will crawl from floor to ceiling in designated areas making this installation a unique creation that will add real panache and artistic sparkle to the SELECT FAIR MIAMI experience this year during Art Week.
