ANNOUNCING THREE NEW EXHIBITIONS

MEET THE ARTISTS RECEPTION

Reception supported by RotariUSA
On view through August 7 | Wed-Sat | 11am-5pm
MAIN GALLERY
TAL AMITAI-LAVI & TAL FRANK: Homeline

Homeline is composed of domestic elements created out of unexpectedly weightless materials, including light and nylon strings: a window, a projected carpet, and a slowly flowing curtain creating reflections, inversions, illusions, and space disruptions and an illusionistic, dreamlike environment. Viewers are confronted by their perception and senses, entering a world whose foundations are fragile, in which life-sized architectural structures have lost their functionality and expected physicality. LEARN MORE.

PROJECT ROOM
Juan Ledesma: Rhythm of Speech
Ledesma’s first solo presentation, Rhythm of Speech, draws connections between diverse musical traditions and collective lived experiences by exploring the musical potential of spoken accents. Although accents are commonly considered linguistic indicators of nationality, cultural upbringing, or socio-economic background, Ledesma aims to reframe language as a collective repository of sounds that can be used towards creative musical compositions. LEARN MORE.
MOBILE STUDIO
LAB MFA: Victoria Ravelo: Hidden in Plain View
The seventh edition of the LAB MFA summer exhibition program features Victoria Ravelo, recent MFA graduate from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University.

Ravelo will be in residence through June 30th, during which time she will transform the storefront Mobile Studio into a working laboratory in which she will create sugar sculptures daily making references the ties of the local community to the Caribbean and the impact the sugar industry has had on the Caribbean as well as its historical significance and influence globally. LEARN MORE.

A Virtual Roundtable with Tal Amitai-Lavi and Tal Frank. Moderated by Tami Katz-Freiman
Saturday, June 26 | 12PM
Join us for a conversation between multidisciplinary visual artists Tal Amitai-Lavi and Tal Frank, moderated by curator Tami-Katz Freiman.

They will discuss their current exhibition, Homeline, in the context of their previous work, touching on their mutual interest in material simulation, optical illusions, architectural elements, labor intensive practice, and immersive experiences. Homeline, which uses weightless materials including light and nylon strings to create domestic elements such as a window, a carpet, and a curtain, will be explored from a post-pandemic perspective.
