Artopia Art Center Remembers an Art Icon

You are cordially invited to attend a very special art event 'Remembrance To Pervis Young' at Artopia Art Center in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District. Join us on Friday, April 25th, 2o14 from 7-10pm to remember an art icon. Artopia is the oldest gallery in Miami and served as a studio for Pervis Young, one of the most prolific artists of our time. Young was the catalyst of Miami's art scene paving the way for Miami to become one of the world's greatest art cities. The event at Artopia will highlight Young's career, which spans more than four decades - his work is in 78 museums around the world and was often a blend of collage, constructed materials and painting, utilizing found objects and discarded materials to create his masterpieces.

A self-taught artist, Young gained recognition quickly with a collector's following. Artopia Art Center showcases many of Young's works and will pay homage to the artist's memory with their resident artists and gallery patrons during the April 25th event. Young's family will be attending along with Artopia's well-known resident artists Mark Cherry, Bayunga Kialeuka, Joe Chirichigno and Brett Sauce, with a special tribute by Artopia's rising art star Masplata. Guests will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for an authentic Pervis Young art piece, and the gallery will be offering affordable artwork for sale. Enjoy an array of art, hor d'oeuvres and cocktails in the Wynwood Arts District as we pay tribute to an artistic icon.
