Zanele Muholi's Phumula, Paris, France (2019) now on-view at The Bass as part of the long-term exhibition Open Storage: Selection and Works On-Loan from the Collection.

The work of acclaimed South African photographer and visual activist Zanele Muholi (b. 1972) affirms South Africa's traditionally marginalized and discriminated LGBTQI communities through portraiture photography, proudly laying claim to subjugated voices, identities and histories through a joyful and courageous lens.
