S. Florida artist & designer Florencia Clement de Grandprey: known for her figurative and mixed media masterpieces on massive area rugs

 

South Florida-based artist and designer Florencia Clement de Grandprey is known for her figurative and mixed media masterpieces on area rugs and tapestries, ranging between 4′ x 6′, and upwards of 10 feet. Her series ‘Guardians of Sacred Spaces‘, is comprised of powerful portraits that command attention, while infusing a sense of protection and calm to the space they are in.

Florencia is continuously exploring new painting surfaces and materials. We asked how she conceived of her uncommon “wall hangings”, and she said, “I discovered I could paint directly on upholstery fabric and area rugs and have fallen in love with the effect I’m able to achieve in this new medium. The patterns become intertwined with the image and add yet another dimension to it.”
