Join us on Free First Thursday, August 7, from 11 am - Noon or 1 - 5 pm to experience NSU Art Museum’s new VR Art program developed by Nova Southeastern University faculty and students from the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts in the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences. Experiment with painting in virtual reality in this session. This guided, free activity is available in English & Spanish, and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. NSU Art Museum: Tea Time at the Museum Café and Exhibition Tour

TEA TIME AT THE MUSEUM CAFÉ Saturday, May 3, 2025 Enjoy Teatime in the Museum Café before touring the new exhibition, A Backward Glance: Highlights from the William J. Glackens Collection. The tour is led by Ariella Wolens, Bryant-Taylor Curator  Tea at 2 pm, Tour at 3 pm $30 per person, Museum members - $25 Your choice of Hot Tea along with Tea Sandwiches, Scones & Sweets RSVP NOW A Backward Glance: Highlights from the William J. Glackens Collection guides viewers through key moments from William Glackens’ history, beginning with his work as an illustrator for publications such as Collier’s: The National Weekly and The New York Herald, and his time as an artist reporter on the frontlines in Cuba during the War of 1898. A Backward Glance also sheds light on some of the lesser-known ways in which Glackens was central to the advancement of modern art in America, such as in his role as chair of the American art committee for the 1913 Armory Show, his contribution to the establishment of the Barnes Foundation Collection, and his position as first president of the Society of Independent Artists in 1917. This exhibition is curated by Ariella Wolens, Bryant-Taylor Curator at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. This exhibition is sponsored by The Sansom Foundation, Inc.

TEEN ART COUNCIL EXHIBITION OPENING Join us for the opening reception of (un)Natural Selection, an exhibition showcasing artwork in all media by Broward County teens. Free Admission! 5 - 7 pm  Curated by student members of NSU Art Museum’s Teen Art Council In the spirit of environmental awareness and inspired by artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Surrounded Islands, Biscayne Bay, 1983, this exhibition explores the evolving relationship between humanity and nature. (un)Natural Selection is a call for change, a platform for young voices to be heard, and an exploration of the role art can play in influencing social and environmental progress. Guest jurors artists Susan Alvarez, Cici McMonigle, and Zoe Schweiger will select winners of prizes that will be awarded at the opening.
