Miami-based visual artist Patrick Willard, aka W4, creates unique art with his personal collection of thousands of rock concert ticket stubs, backstage passes and VIP laminates, which capture a million magical moments from a lifetime spent traveling the world as a music journalist and television personality.
“These artifacts reflect thousands of unique musical events that collectively trace the arc of my personal and professional life”, explained W4.
With the idea of preserving and sharing these moments with his friends, W4 decided to integrate them into a series of graphic art pieces reflecting his own unique and personal style. The works quickly developed a collector and fan base igniting global exhibitions in cities including New York, Paris, Miami and more.
Each of the artist’s creations is printed as a series of 8, every piece is signed and incorporates W4’s treasured concert tickets, backstage passes, hidden hippos, various symbols and a trail of Hindu writing. “I like the Hindi calligraphy, it means ‘World of Lyrics’.”
The artist exhibited with Irreversible Projects during Art Basel in Miami Dec.2-6, 2015 at SPECTRUM Miami Art Fair for Miami Art Week. W4’s current exhibition LIFE is on view at Silvana Facchini Gallery in the Wynwood Arts District through March, 2016.
This exhibit conveys the deeper meaning and symbolism of the objects and images within the work, reflecting W4’s feelings, past and present. The gallery is located at 1929 NW 1st Avenue in Miami, Florida 33136.
The artist also has work on display at Walt Grace Vintage Gallery in the Wynwood Arts District. “Walt Grace Vintage brings class to the neighborhood,” says The Daily Wood. “It’s the kind of combination you’ve never thought of, but works together so beautifully. Cars and guitars. Walt Grace Vintage is bringing the neighborhood class and pizazz with its impeccable collection of vintage cars and perfectly crafted guitars.”
It’s no wonder Patrick Willard’s artwork dons the walls of Walt Grace Vintage – W4’s motorcycle and guitar collages parallel the essence of the venue’s style and theme and offer a unique pop art experience at 224 NW 27th Street in Miami, Florida 33127.
Lisbon, Portugal’s Meeting Art Gallery is organizing DC116 – Downtown Chiado 2016 from February 8-13, 2016. This is the third edition of an international exhibition that will showcase an outstanding selection of contemporary global artists in the Downtown Chiado Arts District of Lisbon, marking the 6th global exhibition to date that has been organized by this gallery. Vernissage and opening day on February 6, 2016 at 5pm local.
The curator for DC 16 is Goncalo Madeira with support from international artist Natalia Gromicho, one of Portugal’s best known artists. They are the driving forces behind the success of Meeting Art Gallery and the international art exhibitions in Downtown Chiado. Gromicho founded Meeting Art Gallery in 2013, her goal was to mix the traditional atelier with an open gallery space hosting exhibits, events, art performances and live painting. “The idea is simple, make a private space in an open space, without limitation to any type of audience, without obstacles, without barriers. Anyone can see, taste, touch, paint.” says Gromicho.

The gallery is located in the historical area of Espaço Chiado, a shopping district in Chiado that was built to preserve the “Ferdinand Wall”, a wall that protected Lisbon from attacks during the period of the Middle Ages. Chiado is one of the most iconic and traditional neighborhoods of Lisbon. Located in one of the most desirable spots between Bairro Alto and Downtown, its location is very privileged, with access from the street Rua da Misericórdia or the street Rua Nova da Trindade, right next to Trindade Theater – making the Meeting Art Gallery a very popular attraction with consistent exposure and traffic, which is part of the strength and success of the gallery’s international art exhibitions. The gallery address is Espaço Chiado – Rua da Misericórdia 12–20, Lisboa 1200-273 Portugal.
Miami Art Scene™ is a proud sponsor of the Downtown Chiado 2016 International Art Exhibition.

Jen Stark was born in Miami, Florida and now based in Los Angeles, California. She received her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2005, majoring in fibers with a minor in animation. Her artwork mimics intricate patterns and colors found in nature while exploring ideas of replication and infinity. Although Stark is most recognized for her paper sculptures, she has explored a variety of media including wood, metal, paint, plexi and animation.

Stark has exhibited globally with major shows in NYC, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Thailand and Canada. Her work is included in the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the West Collection, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale and MOCA Miami among others. Stark recently completed a mural installation in the newly constructed Facebook building (designed by Frank Gehry). It is a 40,000-square-metre office building with “the largest open floor plan in the world” and is located just south of San Francisco in Menlo Park. The project was curated by the Facebook Artist in Residence Program.

The magnificently intricate and colorful kaleidoscopic artworks are formed ranging from wall pieces to stand alone sculptures, painted installations and animation. Stark’s kaleidoscopic artwork brings to mind fractals, rainbows, geodes and topographic maps. Stark’s ideas are based on replication and infinity as well as hypnotic, optical designs that mimic mandalas and sacred objects.
Her captivating sculptures can be traced back to a study abroad trip in the south of France, during which a declining dollar forced Jen to choose an affordable art medium with great potential. Using her vivid imagination and an X-acto knife, she is a modern day magician who transforms humble materials like construction paper and glue into fantastic, intricate sculptures that mesmerize the eye. She has applied her technicolor spin across a variety of media.

The works are created with hundreds of layers of color producing stunning and elaborate hand-cut paper layers, which are piled together in such a way that creates the brilliant rainbow design. Stark uses construction or acid-free colored paper and intricately cuts each sheet with an X-acto knife, layering the paper into a topographical landscape of color and bold shapes. The overlapping paper spiraling into a kaleidoscope of bursting color mesmerizes the viewer. The sensation of being drawn into the work and recognizing the depth of Stark’s creations is a very powerful feeling.
